And last, but never least, an important part of the product marketing role is taking huge amounts of complex and technical information and distilling it down into clear and easy to understand concepts.

Put in the effort of including your customer base and reap the benefits.

A hugely valued aspect of product marketing is making the customer comfortable and happy. So, you must ensure you’re improving their experience with your product and service by making it easily accessible. Take out the technical jargon and create a more comprehensible product to ensure you aren’t alienating your customers.

The same goes with other departments - how are you going to include them in the process if your processes are too difficult to understand?

Maureen West, VP Product Marketing Strategist at Publicis Groupe, echoes our sentiment, explaining:

“Plain language gets your point across more quickly and builds credibility. It’s also extremely difficult to do, and worth the effort.”
